πŸšΆπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ 3 Simple Hacks to Protect Your Energy

Walk It Out

Onward Everyday

Welcome back!

Today, we’ll briefly discuss protecting your energy, so you can invest it into the most important things in your life.

The past four years have been a lot for people, though certainly different depending on who you ask.

A lot of the same, a lot of change, a lot of productivity, a lot of burnout.

We’ve all been head-down, forging ahead, doing our best while running on fumes. In order to get the life, experiences, and success we want, we must have a full tank to overcome challenges and do our best work.

Limiting energy takers and increasing positive energy will allow you to focus on what's most important.

There are 3 simple hacks that have helped me over the past few years.

  1. Go for a walk, daily πŸšΆπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

  2. Start your day the night before πŸ‘”

  3. Utilize personal leverage πŸ›ŽοΈ

1. Go for a walk, daily πŸšΆπŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Make time to walk each day and protect it relentlessly.

Even if it's a quick 15-minute walk or 25 minutes in between meetings, a walk helps you get out of your chair and away from screens.

This is especially important on those days when everything seems to be burning down around you. After all, entrepreneurs are problem solvers and firefighters by trade.

Aside from the physical benefits, it's a big win for mental health, giving you some time outside to get some fresh air and either clear your head or help you think through your most pressing challenges.

It was a godsend for me in 2020 and has become one of the most impactful and cherished parts of my day.

2. Start your day the night before πŸ‘”

You've likely heard this one before and it's worth repeating.

Start your day the night before to maximize your mental energy in the morning.

Decide what you're going to wear the next day before you go to bed. When you don’t waste mental energy in the morning deciding what to wear or what to pack for lunch, you conserve energy critical to getting your most important work done; often the work no one likes doing, and drives your business forward (i.e. revenue generating activities).

I'm not going to tell you that I subscribe to the Steve Jobs or Zucks approach, yet all black is undoubtedly a go-to for days when I don't have the energy to pick something more fashionable.

Make your to-do list at the end of each workday to make it easier to jump into action the next morning. βœ…

Also, be sure to check your calendar before bed to ensure you don't miss an important meeting or appointment first thing in the morning that you may have spaced after an action-packed day. πŸ“…

3. Utilize personal leverage πŸ›ŽοΈ

Leverage isn't just for scaling your business. It can also give you back valuable time and energy to make the most of your free time for family, friends, and hobbies that fill your cup.

If you're just getting your feet under you financially, this should wait, yet many people who can buy back their time don't, and it can be a game-changer.

Start small, with grocery delivery (e.g. Instacart, Shipt), then add lawn care or vice-versa. Hire a prep chef to handle groceries, meal planning, and food prep, so after a long day you simply have to cook your protein. Perhaps use a local laundry service to wash and fold your family's laundry.

Each hour you save can be reinvested back into time with the people who are most important in your life, activities that give you energy, or even back into building your business.

What new habits have you created that have helped you save time, reduce stress, and focus more on what matters?

ONWARD TOGETHER.
