🏁 How I'm Planning For 2025
It's time to let go and just build
Good morning.
It’s time to break out the P&Ls and craft your vision boards. Q4 is here. It’s business planning SZN and the unofficial start of 2025.
I’m changing my approach this time around. Perhaps it’s long overdue.
Let’s get into it.

🏁 How I'm Planning for 2025
Business planning is fun for me.
Well, it used to be.
There’s something magical about sitting down, thinking about your business from a 30,000-foot perspective, and creating a vision of what you can achieve next year.
You see it all.
The people you’ll help and how it impacts them.
The feeling of pride from building something special that runs like clockwork.
You envision how financial success will transform how you spend time with those closest to you and the experiences you can have with them.
Your sales and financial targets are dialed in and reverse-engineered to the decimal.
It’s time to rock-n-roll.
Well, it should be.
Where it all goes wrong
The new year kicks off, and it’s go-time.
Something feels off, though, and you can’t put a finger on it.
Perhaps you had too much turkey and pie over the holidays.
Perhaps a few too many jalapeño poppers and champagne on New Year’s.
Perhaps an underlying sense of abundance and gratitude from spending time with family and gift-giving (and receiving) is silently killing your motivation.
I mean, what else do you need? Life is good.
Or, maybe, that incredible vision you crafted suddenly feels unachievable and overwhelming.
Day after day, week after week, month after month, you and your business limp along, missing target after target, which destroys confidence and further undermines your motivation to build that life you always wanted to achieve.
You arrive at the end of the year stuck in the same place you were last year, feeling the immense weight of letting yourself down and everyone else you care about.
Years go by, and life is, good, but nothing changes.
You know deep inside that you’re destined for more, and the lack of tangible progress is crushing your soul.
How to break the cycle
To create a solution, you must know you have a problem and understand why it is a problem.
The answer to breaking this soul-crushing cycle is not one size fits all.
I’ve spent much of my life learning from others to avoid learning the hard way.
The truth is some lessons have to be learned the hard way.
They’re the most important lessons for you to learn.
This past year, I’ve been working on ONE thing. Consistency.
My focus on consistency has taught me many lessons, which will help me break my cycle and increase the likelihood that I’ll set the right goals for 2025 and complete the tasks necessary to achieve those goals.
As a business owner, it’s critical to know and understand your numbers (sales, conversion ratios, financials, etc) throughout each year.
I’ve learned that while this is a strength of mine, it’s been hurting me.
It causes me to focus on the wrong things and derails me.
To break my cycle, I’ve learned I need to have a crystal clear vision of where I’m going and why that’s important to me, and then let it go and only focus on building.
You can’t directly control your results, but you can control your actions to achieve the desired results.
A big vision can be overwhelming to some, but when you know what you need to build and what pieces you need to build, you can focus on something tangible that you can do every day.
A clear path forward
Many successful people I know didn’t know where they were going but had a pile of pieces and knew what to build with them.
I always knew where I wanted to go, and I could never see what I needed to build, with what pieces, within my strengths (or zone of genius) to get there.
Now I know where I’m going, what to build, and what pieces to start building.
I can finally let go of the destination and just build.
As you plan your 2025, I hope this inspires a different approach to achieving the personal and professional growth you desire so you can create your best life.
See you next week.
